BSc (Hons) CivHNC (Distinction) Civil/Structural Engineering, Chartered Structural Engineeril Engineering
Michael joined HSP in 2000 and I am a Director of HSP with over 40 years experience in the construction industry.
Apart from being responsible along with my fellow Directors for the day to day running of the practice I also appraise pre and post tender projects, value engineering the schemes and finding safe ways to reduce the overall cost of the contract making the scheme viable or saving costs for the Client or Contractor.
Using my extensive knowledge of the various construction methods I also carry out Structural Inspections ranging from domestic housing to large multi storey structures such as offices, schools, hospitals etc.
The surveys are undertaken to confirm structural condition, method of construction, projected life span and if required suitability for horizontal or vertical extension or conversion to other uses such as Free schools.
I also undertake demolition surveys to confirm construction and safe method of demolition and also fire damage surveys to confirm whether a building is unsafe and needs to be demolished or requires temporary support prior to repair.
In my role as QA Manager I am also responsible for the updating and running of the Company QA Procedures ensuring continued compliance and accreditation.
I am a Chartered Structural Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers. I am also twice Chairman and past Secretary of East Midlands Regional Group of the Institution with my involvement spanning over 30 years both locally and at London Headquarters.
