In
keeping with current government guidelines Sustainable Urban Drainage
(SUDS) techniques were utilised in the form of linear soak-away
trenches throughout the car park areas. A "Thin Paving System" was
adopted in line with the design manual for roads and bridges (DMRB
standards).
This approach significantly reduced the contract sum,and the contract
period. Part of the historic ballroom was incorporated into the
landscaping within the car park area.
