HSP Consulting are currently working on three new schools/part refurbishments under the Leicester BSF with Miller Construction. The three schools are English Martyrs, Moat and Westgate which are all secondary level Schools and Colleges with a total value of around £30 million.
The schools are currently at Stage 3 tender issue and are due to begin construction in early 2013.
The Architects for English Martyrs and Westgate are Aedas whom we now have a strong working relationship with at their Shrewsbury office.
The schools are all of steel frame design with mass concrete pad foundations.
We have also carried out all of the topographical surveys, site Investigations, flood risk assessments, traffic assessments, structural appraisals and other necessary surveys for all of the 1 schools under this BSF programme with a total value of around £1 million for this survey work
Other schools we are working on at present are Milton Hall Primary School and Hamstel Junior and Infant School in Southend on Sea which again are part new build and part refurbishment. Milton Hall consists of two new blocks one being of two storey steel frame construction and one being single storey timber frame with a raft foundation. Hamstel School is a bespoke pitched roof single storey timber frame building with a raft foundation. Again HSP Consulting carried out all of the site investigation/survey work on both of these schools.
We are also at present carrying out similar site investigation work as the Leicester schools on 4 Peterborough new build schools out of a total of 12 which we will be undertaking in the coming year.
We are also carrying out a programme of classroom extensions to schools in Leicestershire with Willmott Dixon under a ABNP programme. This work started in 2009 and will carry on until 2016 providing timber frame single and two storey classroom extension involving around 10 schools per year at a total value of £60 million.
Recently we have carried out both survey work and full structural and civils design under the BSF programme in Bradford with a total build cost of £250 million with also similar further BSF projects in Nottingham, Dover and Leeds and we have included details of the typical work undertaken in the attached information.
