matt-stratfordMatthew graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2004 with a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering. He then joined Tony Gee and Partners in Surrey who had sponsored him for the duration of his degree course.

Whilst at Tony Gee and Partners Matthew worked on a number of high profile projects including Wembley Stadium, Heathrow Terminal 5, Stratford Station regeneration, the Coulsdon Bypass tunnel and, for 9 months, on the erection of the roof structure to SkyPlaza – Hong Kong’s new airport terminal.

In November 2005 Matthew joined HSP Consulting as a Design Engineer in the Structures team. Whilst at HSP Matthew has worked on the new West Midlands Fire HQ in Birmingham, Hamilton Way Footbridge in Leicester, Bromsgrove Street – a 7 storey reinforced concrete frame residential building in Birmingham, Stockwell Gate – a complex reinforced concrete and load-bearing masonry building in Mansfield and also numerous school projects as part of the BSF programme.

In 2008 Matthew became a chartered member of the IStructE aged 26 and following this was asked to join the board at HSP as an Associate Director.

In his spare time Matthew enjoys long distance running and has completed the London marathon on five occasions. He also enjoys watching and playing football.
